Arizona Contests, Sweepstakes and Giveaways
Find contests, sweepstakes and giveaways that may be open to Arizona residents. Contest Reminder helps you discover and track third-party promotions, but it does not sponsor them. Each sponsor’s official rules decide who can enter, how entries are counted, how winners are chosen and what a winner must do to claim a prize.
Arizona residents will usually see the same U.S. promotion language used elsewhere: sweepstakes, contest, giveaway and promotion. Some international rules also use prize draw or competition. The label matters less than the rules, so check the eligibility, deadline, entry method, winner-selection method and prize-claim section before entering.
If you want a broader search, start with the United States sweepstakes page. Arizona residents near the state line may also find the California contests page, Nevada contests page and New Mexico contests page useful for border-area promotions, local pickup rules or travel prizes that are advertised in nearby markets.
Finding contests open to Arizona residents
A promotion shown on an Arizona page is not automatically open to every Arizona resident. Look for wording such as:
- Open to legal residents of Arizona
- Open to legal residents of the United States or the 50 United States and D.C.
- Open to residents of named states, including Arizona
- Void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law
- Excludes residents of certain states, territories or countries
Some sponsors also limit entries by shipping area, retail market, event attendance or local pickup. That matters for Arizona residents because a promotion may be open nationwide but still require a winner to claim a prize in another state or region.
Before entering an Arizona contest
- Confirm residency: Make sure the rules name Arizona, the United States, or a state list that includes Arizona.
- Check the age rule: Arizona law says an adult is a person who has attained 18 years of age, but sponsors can set a higher lawful minimum age for some prizes.
- Read the entry method: Confirm whether the promotion is a random sweepstakes, judged contest, instant win game or another format.
- Look for a no-purchase path: The FTC says real prizes are free and winning is by chance, and it is illegal to ask you to pay to enter or improve your odds.
- Check limits and deadlines: Review daily-entry, one-entry, referral and bonus-entry rules carefully, and note the time zone listed in the official rules.
- Review prize delivery: Travel, vehicle and merchandise prizes may require pickup, registration, insurance, shipping, taxes or other out-of-pocket costs.
- Watch for scam signs: Be cautious of unexpected win notices, pressure to act now, or requests for bank, credit card or Social Security information.
- Keep your records: Save the official rules, entry confirmation, winner notice and any tax forms or receipts tied to the prize.
Arizona rules, taxes and consumer resources
Arizona residents should read the official rules first, but state law also gives useful context. The Arizona Revised Statutes definitions section treats an adult as a person who has attained 18 years of age. That does not override a sponsor’s own age rule, and prizes involving alcohol, tobacco, travel, vehicles or contracts can add extra restrictions.
For tax questions, the Arizona Department of Revenue says residents are taxed on the same income reported for federal income tax purposes, subject to specific modifications. The IRS also says gambling winnings are fully taxable and include cash plus the fair market value of prizes such as cars and trips. Contest Reminder cannot give tax advice, so keep records and ask a qualified tax professional if a prize is significant or unclear.
If a promotion feels off, the FTC warns that a prize notice is suspicious when you have to pay to get it, pay to increase your odds, or share financial information to claim it. Use ReportFraud.ftc.gov to report suspected fraud, and consider the Arizona Attorney General’s consumer complaint process if you believe a business used deceptive or unfair practices. The Attorney General’s Office says it reviews consumer complaints involving deceptive or unfair practices in the sale or advertisement of goods or services and can help with informal dispute resolution when it has jurisdiction.
General information only: This page is not legal, tax or financial advice. Laws, tax rules and contest terms can change, and each promotion’s official rules control eligibility and prize claims.
