Australian Competitions: Check Your State and Entry Rules
Showing 1–12 of 358 matching contests.
Australian competitions can involve a random draw, a judged answer or a purchase promotion. Start with the listings, then open the promoter’s terms to check whether your state or territory, age and entry method qualify. Contest Reminder helps you discover and track opportunities; the promoter runs the competition and decides valid entries under its rules.

Check the Promotion Before Spending
A promotion described as free entry may still involve buying a product. For example, NSW’s trade-promotion guidance allows a normal-retail-price purchase as an entry condition while prohibiting a separate participation fee. That is a NSW rule, not a promise that every listing has a no-purchase route. Read the specific offer before buying anything.
For a judged answer, check the word limit, judging criteria and originality requirements. For a random draw, check how many entries one person or household may submit. Keep receipts if the rules require purchase evidence, including the product, store and purchase date.
Your Australian Entry Checklist
- Find the eligible states, territories and any postcode restrictions.
- Check the minimum age and any parent or guardian permission requirement.
- Use the closing time zone named in the rules; do not assume the promoter uses your local time.
- Check delivery areas, collection locations and travel departure points.
- Save the entry confirmation and the winner-notification deadline.
If an offer also includes New Zealand, compare the New Zealand competition listings, but verify that the same promotion accepts Australian residents. A shared brand or prize does not establish cross-border eligibility.
Prize Claims and Suspicious Messages
The ACCC explains businesses’ gift and prize obligations, including supplying prizes as offered and within the stated or a reasonable time, subject to circumstances beyond their control. Retain the advertisement and terms if you need to query a missing prize.
Scamwatch’s unexpected-money guidance warns about fake prizes and demands for payment to claim them. Check a win through contact details you find independently on the promoter’s website. Stop before sending money or identity documents to an unverified account.
Australian Competition Questions
Does an Australian Listing Include Every State?
No. Read the eligible-location clause and any postcode or collection restrictions. A national brand can run a local promotion.
Must Every Competition Offer Entry Without a Purchase?
Do not assume that. The NSW example above permits a normal-price purchase requirement. Check whether your chosen promotion offers a free alternative and follow its exact instructions.
Is Every Competition Restricted to Adults?
No single age shown here applies to every promotion. NSW guidance allows children unless the promotion’s rules set an age limit; check the actual competition and any permission requirements.
What Should I Check Before Accepting a Travel Prize?
Confirm departure airport, fixed dates, companion eligibility and costs you must cover. For a valuable or work-related prize, obtain tax guidance for your circumstances before assuming there are no obligations.
Does Recording an Entry Here Enter the Draw?
No. Complete the promoter’s required entry first, then use Contest Reminder to record it. Tracking does not submit an entry or override repeat-entry limits.
Choose competitions you qualify for and prizes you could use. Keep the official terms with your entry record so a later claim is easier to check.
